The process of design is not one that is linear. It is one filled with both highs and lows, successes and failures. This is true for even companies specialized in design, with a professional/academic background in the area. There was (at the time of this project) an interesting e-commerce design studio based in San Francisco called “Rest.” They specialize in making wood products to help you organize your everyday small objects in a neat, orderly fashion. Their website was <https://getrest.co/>.
While their website, which the bulk of it is on a singular self-contained page, their homepage, looks great in my opinion, there were some modifications that could be done to it to make it look even better. In order to help out the company “perfect” their web presence I took a standard re-design approach over the course of five weeks: idea/subject, priority-content map, mood board (which included the visual aspects of type specimen and color palette), prototype, and presentation. Below I go into more detail about each individual step!

A week of content discovery (through idea/subject research) and outlining (through priority-content map), another one building a mood board (mood, color scheme, typeface, and inspiration), three weeks of prototyping (low/mid-fidelity and high-fidelity), and a day of presentation (in-person class presentation).
